When it comes to personality the ‘space’ between people is just as important as the people themselves. That’s because the space isn’t really empty: it’s filled with possibility, energy and anticipation. This is why the ‘real you’ only becomes apparent when you’re with other people. It’s like the print on this page, or the optical illusion opposite, what appears not to be there is the most important thing to see. So there’s no such thing as an absence of personality, only an absence of awareness of others – and of having the skill to catch sight of their real face.
